Description of the Artifact and It's Significance The significance of this microphone is that it wasn't the famous speech itself that was so important but what its words meant to King's listeners. And how could any but the closest witnesses have heard those marvelous words but for the technology involved in the handy presence of an amplification device like this microphone!

III. Description of the Artifact and It's Significance This letter from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was written during his incarceration in Birmingham. Written to other clerymen, the letter addresses the clergymen's criticism of Dr. King's involvement in a place where he does not live. Dr. King writes about Biblical examples of injustice and the requirement of good people to try to correct injustice wherever it occurs.
